Who is Ady Manral?

I’m Ady Manral, and I live in Landour, in the Himalayas. Life in the mountains has had a profound impact on me personally, and that now reflects in my music too. I love being surrounded by the wilderness here in the hills. It really shapes how I see and feel things.

I write in Hindi and English, and mostly play acoustic guitar with a loop pedal. If you listen to some of my recorded songs, you’ll notice I often structure them in loops and build them entirely on the acoustic guitar. Although I do love my electric guitar as well, and from time to time I enjoy singing some classic rock and blues covers with my friends.

I try to find meaning in life and translate that into my music and songs. I’m inspired by artists like Bon Iver, Hozier, James Bay, and John Martyn, and my lifelong idol has always been Paul McCartney.

I’m excited about my upcoming documentary, Sketches from the Top of the Hills, which is really a visual EP, with even some unfinished songs that felt right to include. Do also check out the By the Ocean series, which I worked on recently.

I love bringing my music to people who connect with it on a deeper level, those who see music as something more than just background sound. For me, music and life intersect, and I try to share that with people who feel a similar connection.
