Who is Ady Manral?
I'm Ady Manral, an independent singer-songwriter based in Landour, Mussoorie, in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, India. Living in the mountains has profoundly shaped both my life and my music. The forests, changing seasons, long walks, and quiet rhythms of Landour continue to influence the way I write songs and see the world. Much of my music is inspired by nature, human connection, and the small moments that often go unnoticed.
I write and perform original songs in both Hindi and English, blending acoustic folk influences with loop-based guitar arrangements. Most of my music is built around the acoustic guitar and loop pedal, creating layered performances from a single instrument. Every now and then, I also enjoy picking up my electric guitar to play classic rock and blues with friends.
My songwriting is inspired by artists such as Bon Iver, Hozier, James Bay, John Martyn, and Paul McCartney, whose music has stayed with me throughout my life. More than anything, I try to write songs that encourage people to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with themselves and the world around them.
My latest project, Sketches from the Top of the Hills, is a visual EP presented in the form of a music documentary. The film follows my life through songs, conversations, and everyday moments, offering a glimpse into the creative process and the relationship between music and place. Alongside the film, I've also been sharing music through projects such as the By the Ocean series.
Whether I'm performing in a small café, a mountain festival, or an intimate listening room, I'm always hoping to create the same feeling: a space where music becomes something to experience rather than simply hear.
